Under STCW 2010 Manila Amendments, Officers of the Watch must have a minimum of 10 hours rest in any 24-hour period, and 77 hours in any 7-day period. Rest may be divided into no more than two periods, one of which must be at least 6 hours. The Master may suspend these requirements in an emergency, but must record this in the log.
