Overview
This port is one of the world's foremost container transhipment hubs, strategically located on major East-West shipping lanes. Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the port provides world-class facilities for container, bulk, tanker, and cruise vessels.
Port authority operations are managed through a centralised vessel traffic service (VTS). All vessels must establish radio contact with port control on VHF Ch 16 prior to entering the Traffic Separation Scheme. Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 3,000 GT.
The port offers extensive anchorage areas in designated holding positions east of the main approach channel. Customs and immigration clearance is available at all main terminals. ISPS-compliant security procedures are enforced throughout the port.
